Neurologists: Typically, neurologists and neurosurgeons deal with diseases or threats to the spinal cord. Some orthopedic surgeons do neck and back decompressions when the spinal cord is compressed.

SC specialist: Spinal cord (sc) specialist. These physician complete 4 years of medical school, 3-4 years of residency training in neurology, physical medicine &rehabilitation, internal medicine or surgery. Finally, they complete fellowship training of one year (or subspecialty training) on spinal cord medicine.
