Abortive medication: Light and noise sensitivity occur in about 80% of migraines and are typically relieved along with the headache by use of a symptomatic or abortive migraine medication. Migraine medications work best taken at the onset of pain. Ibuprofen helps about 45% of people, Excedrin about 59%, and sumatriptan tablets about 65%.
