See below: Make certain she is being followed closely by doc & taking prescribed meds. Tia is stroke that resolves within 24 hrs without residual defects. But suggest possibility of future stroke. Doc should evaluate her thoroughly— carotid arteries, cholesterol, diabetes, etc to correct things before a stroke does occur. May need cardiologist, neurologist too. Be supportive.

TIA and Stroke: Tia symptoms can be like stroke causing facial droop, weakness or numbness on one side of the body, balance problem and others. These symptoms should lead to a call to 911. If the symptoms go away within 24 hrs and MRI scan of brain is normal then it is TIA otherwise a stroke. A present TIA is a warning for future strokes. A neurologist can help in assessing future stroke risk and prevention.
