Generalization: There's some debate about this, but medically, most men get more than enough iron for daily requirements from diet. Some women may not get enough, especially if they don't eat foods like meat or leafy greens. Generalizing that "americans" are getting too much iron really isn't possible, at this point. Also, are you speaking of north americans, south americans, native americans?
