Yes: Some radiologists and endocrinologists have been injecting nodules with alcohol to shrink them. It is very painful but it usually works. Thyroid hormone does not usually shrink most nodules.
Dr. Eric Whitman
Surgical Oncology 36 years experience
No: There is no known way to reliably shrink thyroid nodules.

Would i be able to have thyroid nodules shrunk without having to take them out surgically?

Depends on type: If cancer, surgical removal and then treatment, possibly with radioactive iodine. If benign, but causing hyperthyroidism, then treat with radioactive iodine, antithyroid medicines, or possibly surgery. If benign and not causing symptoms, can watch closely (after benign biopsy) or use thyroid medicine to suppress growth of the nodule. If it causes symptoms (trouble swallowing), surgery.

Almost never: Thyroid nodules either stay stable or grow. They do not shrink. No medicine causes them to shrink either, .
