A member asked:

What blood work each year should be ordered by your primary care doctor for healthy people?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Depends;discuss w DR: We are spending billions (total health care is over 2.6 trillion) in unnecessary testing each year.I think testing for lipids in teen-twenty years is reasonable-if normal:next test @ 30 in absence of cv disease in family. An HIV test is prudent at first teen/adult blood draw-it is an opportunity to discuss safe sex.Cbc can warn of early blood cancers and O.K.Cmp yearly after 40, w TSH and hba1c.
