A member asked:

Does anyone have any herbal or natural supplements for cirrhosis of the liver?

Milk thistle: Mild thistle is often used as an herbal adjunct to treatment of liver disease. It is not harmful and may improve liver enzymes. It does not improve symptoms nor affect the natural history of any liver disease. To sum up, it wont hurt but probably wont help either.

Nothing: There is nothing medically or herbally that will improve cirrhosis.

Milk thistle: is really the only one with any evidence of effectiveness. as you probably know, herbal and natural supplements are not regulated so it is very hard to know what you're getting and at what doses. many can cause as much harm as good.
