A member asked:

Why does using rogaine (minoxidil) make your hair look terrible?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Vehicle: Unfortunately, the medication has to be dissolved in a vehicle that can penetrate the scalp and act on the hair follicle. The original vehicle contains propylene glycol, ethyl alcohol, and water. The new foam rogaine (minoxidil) is supposed to dissolve more rapidly and leave less residue, but neither formulation are particularly good for styling hair.
