Buprenorphine helps: Opiate addiction may be treated quite effectively with the combination of Buprenorphine (suboxone) and psychosocial support. The longer the treatment lasts, the more likely recovery is sustained. Mutual support helps; consider attending a meeting of narcotics anonymous.

It's Beneficial: Buprenorphine (bupe), which is the active ingredient in suboxone, is one main part of the "harm reduction model" for treating opiate addiction, which can be deadly. The other is called the "abstinence model" and for some with opiate addiction, the cravings are so bad that the person is preoccupied with opiates and has a high potential for relapse. Bupe is opiate replacement therapy and saves lives.
