BuzzBuzz : The swelling is an allergic reaction to the sting. Rest elevate contrast warm moist compress with cool compress monitor for infection: ie increasing redness, increasing swelling, fevers, etc... Should begin to subside in a few days.

Intense pain : Starts to dissipate in minutes ; by a couple hours the pain intensity is markedly reduced. Pain goes from sharp to dull and is usually resolved within 3 days or so. Normal sting symptoms may include pain, itching, swelling, redness ; tenderness of the affected area. Milder allergic reactions: swelling of > 4 inches (baseball), nausea, GI cramps, diarrhea. Severe allergic reactions may present.
