Different: Ventolin is consideres as a rescue inhaler for emergency situation in case you have an attack of asthma with shortness of breath. But advair has both steroids and long acting beta agonist in one.-it is used as maintenance treatment of asthma.

Controller med: Ventolin is albuterol, which is intended to quickly relieve asthma symptoms. If one is having symptoms twice per week or more or waking up at night with asthma symptoms twice per month or more, they mmay need to be on a controller medication that is used every day to keep their asthma under control. Advair is one type of controller medicine.
