Had a cough for 1 wk + mucus. it's a lighter yellow now, but the cough is getting stronger and makes me gag and my chest feels tighter. advise please?

Lower respiratory ?: Sounds like you got an upper respiratory infection characterized by productive cough. Lighter yellow sputums is a sign that it's improving. Thicker mucus/gag may means you're not drinking enough fluids, which is a key part of getting over this. The deep cough and tight chest is concerning and could mean 'wheezing'. Would c ur gp, may need chest x-ray and further treatment.

Possibilities..,,: It is possible that you are now having bronchospasm and airway inflammation. If present, this is best treated with bronchodilator and steroid inhalers. You should see your doctor so this diagnosis can be made and treatment rendered.
