Wrong: According to the latest cdc data, malignant neoplasms are the second cause of death in the us. Most cervical cancers can be prevented with a simple vaccination against hpv. Once you have the cancer, if it's not detected early, the chances of cure decrease dramatically with more damage to the body and the family.

Prevention & trust: Preventing cancer, that can cause disability, pain and death is a noble venture. The risk of cancer appears to be small due to the relentless efforts of doctors. 50 years ago cervical cancer was a leading cause of cancer death in us women. If you do not trust your doctor, find one you can have a rapport with and can trust.

It is a real problem: Do you know that there're 530k new cases of cervical cancer worldwide and 275, 000 people died of cervical cancer in 2008? Majority of cervical cancer is due to hpv infection. Also, the incidence of hpv related head and neck cancer continues to increase significantly for the last decade along with increase incidence of hpv infection. Majority of them are really young people.

Preventable: It is one of the few cancers that we know definitively what the cause is, have cheap, effective screening for (that has prevented thousands of cancers) and a vaccine to prevent the virus that causes it now. No panic, just awareness.
