Depends on age.: If you are talking about yourself, just increase fluids, 8-10 glasses of water daily. Use humidifier or vaporisor. Avoid inhalents, such as smoke, sprays and highly scented aerosols. Avoid crowds, wash hands, cover your cough. Watch for fever or increasing symptoms. If this is a small child or infant, let the doctor examine and determine that other causes are not responsible for symptoms.

Acute?: Acute bronchitis is caused by an infection of the airways, either bacterial or viral. If you don't have a fever, if your sputum is not discolored and you don't feel ill, it is likely a viral infection or seasonal allergies. The treatment would be to treat your symptoms. It should run its course over a few days. If you have a fever, shortness of breath or if it doesn't resolve in a few days, see doc.
