Do breast buds go away in men or are they permanent?

Normal: Breast buds are the first sign of puberty (passage into the adult form of te species) in humans. Both genders get them. In males, they degenerate becoming just normal male nipples. In women hey continue to develop into breast tissue. Rarely, breast tissue persists in males, leading to a condition called gynecomastia. This also goes away, but occasionally needs treatment.

In time: Pubertal gynecomastia will occur in 1/3 to 1/2 of males & generally last about a year before fading.Up to 3 years is noted occasionally before disappearing. Overweight kids can appear to have it from just fat accumulation.If present after 3 years, surgical removal of the glandular tissue & liposuction of any associated fatty tissue may be needed.
