No: Adrenal insufficiency is the result of the failure of the adrenal glands to make cortisol. T3 (liothyronine) will not treat adrenal insufficiency because it is a thyroid hormone.

Will worsen with T3 (liothyronine): If you are adrenally insuffic ient and have low cortisol levels, taking T3 (liothyronine) will acutally worsen your condition. This is because T3 (liothyronine) (and t4) will increase your need for cortisol and therefore your levels will drop.
