How long do you leave in an umbrella filter for blood clots?

Depends: Sometimes they are placed as a temporary precaution for an up coming surgery. Theses are retrieveable. Otherwise they are usually left in permanantly.

Depends: Some stay forever. Some can be removed when patient able to take coumadin (warfarin). Or recovered from procedure. Need to follow up in filter clinic if it's going to be removed.
