However, some symptoms are associated with violence, such as delusions of persecution. Substance abuse may also increase the chance a person will become violent.

Probably not: Most with schizophrenia are non-violent. They are afraid of others and tend to be loners. Usually a person with schizophrenia becomes increasingly psychotic and loses touch with reality in a slow and gradual way. It's possible, but unlikely. A person is more likely to be at risk for violence around intoxicated and drunk people.
