Not Usually: According to the national institute of mental health people with schizophrenia are not usually violent. In fact, most violent crimes are not committed by people with schizophrenia. However, some symptoms are associated with violence, such as delusions of persecution. Substance abuse may also increase the chance a person will become violent.

Probably not: Most with schizophrenia are non-violent. They are afraid of others and tend to be loners. Usually a person with schizophrenia becomes increasingly psychotic and loses touch with reality in a slow and gradual way. It's possible, but unlikely. A person is more likely to be at risk for violence around intoxicated and drunk people.
