Yes: A benign adrenal tumor means that it is not cancerous but that doesn't mean that it can't be a functioning tumor, that is, it can still produce excess hormone. If the excess hormone is cortisol, you can gain weight.

Yes: If it produces corticosteroids (cortisone like hormones). This is caled cushing syndrome and is associated with fat deposition, especially in the waist area and back (so called buffalo hump. But cushing syndrome is rare - there are many more likely causes of weight gain.
