A member asked:

Can a really bad eye infection permanently damage your eye?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Possibly: A really bad surface infection, if neglected, can cause permanent scarring and a few organisms can bore through the outer wall and infect the interior of the eye. These conditions will generally permanently damage the eye and permanently lower the vision. Always see your ophthalmologist for treatment.
