What is the difference between regular, irregular astigmatism?

Correctability: Regular astigmatism is a refractive error produced when your eye generates an image as if the light rays passed through a regular shaped glass football. Irregular astigmatism is when the football is not shaped regularly, e.g. One end is fatter than the other. It is very difficult to fully correct vision by any technique in cases of irregular astigmatism; contacts are useful.
