A member asked:

What exactly is an astigmatism and will i eventually need glasses?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Oval eye shape: Astigmatism is a part of refractive errors (need for glasses) due to ovalness of the eye. Correction is a reverse oval in the glasses or contacts. You will need to correct this if it is large enough to lower your visual acuity on the eye charts. So you eventual need for glasses depends upon the degree of astigmatism.
