How to tell the difference between laryngitis and croup?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Croup vs no sound: Laryngitis is often the effect of the croup agent on older patients. While the little kid develops the throaty & resonant croup sound, the older kid or adult may only have an inflamed voice box. The crouper makes the seal barking noise when they cough, the laryngitis patient usually has a normal cough & squeaky voice.
