A member asked:

Could an iga deficiency prevent my body from making antibodies?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

IgA deficiency: Iga is an antibody, so a deficiency of IgA means your body is having trouble making that type of antibody. Iga deficiency does not cause you to be unable to make other antibodies. It just means you aren't able to make the IgA class of antibodies, so antibodies of that type will probably not be detected if they are sought, for example, in a blood test for celiac or other diseases.
