A member asked:

Do elevated anticardiolipin antibodies mean there is inflammation in the body? igm was high but not igg or iga, hematologist says nothing to worry about? beta glycoprotein negative?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Persistent anticardiolipin antibodies are associated with increased blood clot formation. Most patients with elevated anticardiolipin antibodies are placed on anticoagulants to avoid clot related disease (strokes, DVT's, etc). If there has been no clinical examples of increased clotting, such patients are usually placed on low dose aspirin. Get a second opinion from another hematologist.
