Maybe in California: Bone marrow donation is a voluntary act and it is illegal to pay a donor under the national organ transplant act. However, a recent ruling by an appeals court in california has ruled that people who donate bone marrow cells in a process of stem cell leukapheresis can be paid for doing so. This is still controversial and is not endorsed by the national marrow donor program.
