Valium: Diazepam & its metabolite (nordiazepam) are excreted into breast milk & can build up in the infant's blood with repeated doses. Both have long half –lives, so trying to time breastfeeding is of limited value. This is especially a concern with preterm infants or newborns. It is best to find a different medication.
