Not at all!: Most physicians can treat hemorrhoids medically - usually use of supplemental fiber in your diet will cure most symptoms. If this fails, then office techniques can be used. These techniques usually fall under the purview of general surgeons and colorectal surgeons. Some colorectal surgeons who only deal with rectal issues call themselves proctologists.
