Yes: Collagen for injection is derived from either a human or an animal source. Collagen of the lattter type can cause allergic reactions that are sometimes signficant because animal collagen differs very slightly from human collagen. A skin test can detect most allergic responses ahead of time. Repeat injections over time can result in rare bumps in the skin due to trauma.
