Depends: An arm lift, like any body contouring procedure, is designed to remove excess tissue. However the scars needed to achieve this can be long. We do our best to camouflage or hide these scars. Although an arm lift can successfully improve contour, the scars are less able to be hidden unless covered by a long sleeve shirt. However the results can be dramatic and favorable.

Arm Lift: Arm lifts (brachioplasties) can truly the improve the contour of the upper arms. Patients who have an abundance of excess upper arm skin often will notice the most significant difference after the operation. The trade off for better arm contour is permanent scars that do fade quite a bit with time. The vast majority of patients undergoing arm lifts are very happy with the cosmetic result.

Depends.: Arm lifting surgery is a very patient pleasing operation for the appropriately selected patient. For patients who present with significant skin/adipose tissue of the upper arms ( “bat wings”), arm lifting surgery may be an excellent operation. The downside with the operation are the scars which may be poor and require revisionary surgery. “hiding” the scar is an important part during planning.

Arm Lift: Patients that have lost a large amount of weight generally have loose skin. The arm lift surgery (brachioplasty) can eliminate the appearance of "bat wings", reduce the excess accumulation of fat which can give the arms a flabby appearance, and restore a slimmer, firmer appearance to the arms.

Can Be Dramatic: Arm lift results can be quite dramatic. If the underside of the upper arms have developed sagging, drooping skin, or appears loose due to excess skin, an arm lift can truly transform a troubled area. Schedule a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon so you can describe exactly what you're looking to achieve and discuss your options.
