What are pros/ cons of using your own palate donor tissue vs alloderm material?

Your own tissue: May take more quickly, but it does involve a separate incision elsewhere, which may mean more pain. With alloderm, you don't have the donor site pain, but some people don't like the thought of cadaver tissue. The final results are likely to be similar.

Alloderm: For the patient, the use of alloderm eliminates the trauma and pain of the donor site. Secondly, the size of the defect will be less of a factor since tissue does not have to be harvested. There will be less operative pain. The only cons would be an extra cost of material and a rare chance of tissue rejection.
