A member asked:

Can type 1 diabetes be curable?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not at present: Type 1 dm involves the distruction of cells in your gland that make insulin. Once distroyed, the cells do not grow back. So you end up taking artificial Insulin by injection or in a continuous pump. Some reserchers are trying to figure out how to plant new Insulin making cells into the body and something like that may help in the future. For now t1dm patients must be thankful we have Insulin for rx.
