The bacteria involved may or may not be sexually transmitted and in many cases multiple bacterial strains are involved. The diagnosis is often clinical and generally cannot be confirmed accurately without sophisticated evaluation. If antibiotic therapy doesn't result in resolution of pain, see your doc.
