Depends: Appropriate antibiotic is important, completing the course is important. During the treatment...no sex/douching/tampon/ tub bath. Otherwise recurrence will occur. Multiple partners, BV, Chlamydia are contributing factors. In India tubercular infection possible. Maintain good health, healthy food(non-vegetarian) habit for better cure. A pelvic US will asses the issue prospectively.

Exposure..: Are you having sex with the same person? If so has that person being treated as well?If not even though you get treated and the infection resolves if you have sex with someone that can be infected as well and not treated you are going to keep getting the infection back.If your partner has been treated then other possible issues need to be checked for. Ask your GYN provider about having other tests
