See below: Acute coronary syndrome or unstable angina usually means chest pain due interruption of blood flow to the heart muscle. Myocardial infarction ( mi) implies damage to the heart muscle due to prolonged interruption of the blood flow to the heart muscle.

MI more serious: All are caused by not enough blood flow to the heart. Mi causes permanent damage. Unstable angina does not. Acute coronary syndrome can be applied to either of the others.
