Rare: Ganglions are removed through outpatient surgery, but there is no guarantee that the cyst will not recur. Common symptoms after surgery include tenderness, discomfort, and swelling. Major problems such as infection, tendon rupture and chronic pain syndromes rarely occur. Normal activities usually may be resumed two to six weeks after surgery.
