A member asked:

Blood clots in the legs, how can i prevent?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Stay active: Inactivity is a major risk factor for blood clots in the legs. Also, recent surgery, especially any kind that will make you immobile for a while is a common cause. Usually, surgeons will give medicine to prevent a clot, like heparin. Certain medicines like estrogen in birth control pills also can cause clots. If going on a trip, make sure to get up every hour or so and move the legs.
