No Other Antibiotics: Typhoid fever is caused by the bacterium salmonalla typhi. It is treated with with supportive care (rehydration, etc) and antibiotics such as ciprofloxin, cefixime, Ceftriaxone and others. Your doctor will choose your antibiotic based on susceptibility studies run on the offending bacterium. Azithromycin is not typically used to treat tyhpoid fever.
