A member asked:

Are zinc oxide and titanium dioxide safe when ingested?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not particularly: Zinc oxide is not very toxic when you mistakenly eat it. Most of the harmful effects come from breathing in the gas form of zinc oxide at industrial sites in the chemical industry. However, it is not particularly good for you either. Titanium dioxide is present in many foods, such as cottage cheese and ice cream, purely to make them look better, but in very small quantities.
