Hygiene is key!: If you are living with someone who is diagnosed with an MRSA infection it is difficult to avoid the person. The key is to make sure that the person is being treated with antibiotics. Always wash hands with antibacterial soaps & do not share personal items. Unless you have an open cut, usually not an issue. An antibiotic ointment can be used in the nostril to treat MRSA colonization if present.
