2. what would a v/q scan tell the doctor about pulmonary blood flow to the affected part of the lung?

VQ scans: With a VQ scan, the v refers to "ventilation, and the q refers to blood flow. The test is designed as a test for a blood clot in the lung. When this happens you have a blockage to blood flow (abnormal or reduced q) but normal air flow (ventilation). Other diseases in the lungs tend to reduce both v and q similarly.
