A member asked:

Is mitral valve prolapse a contagious condition?

No: No, the tendency for it is present at birth, so it may have a genetic or womb cause. There is even a correlation with certain finger print patterns. Finger prints form in the fetus before birth. There is nothing contagious about it.

No: Contagious means spreadable - only infections diseases are spreadable. Some mitral valve prolapse are inherited and could be genetically transmitted to offsprings (myxomatous degeneration of mitral valve).
