A member asked:

How long does a prostate infection take to go away, including symptoms?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Prostate infections: Prostate infections come in 2 forms: acute (with high fever, shaking chills, generalized weakness and perineal pain) and chronic. The chronic form is the most common; it tends to recur once or twice a year. When you treat a flare-up, symptoms usually improve within 2-3 days, but are not completely gone for about 2 weeks. Many doctors treat with antibiotics for 4-6 weeks per flare.
