Of course!: Anyone who has had (in the past or currently) HSV 1 or HSV 2 in the genitals area needs to talk with the partner about it, so they can together decide what to do about it. That means waiting until the relationship is strong enough before thinking about sex. That way, there is less chance of being rejected for carrying genital herpes. If one gets cold sores on the lips, also talk about oral sex.
