Depends: Which "heart enzymes" and when they are noted to be how high are all potentially important markers of underlying disease and prognosis. Although there are some patient who "normally" have high cardiac enzymes, these blood tests are the ones doctors usually use to indicate heart muscle damage, and thus make a diagnosis of myocardial infarction, or "heart attack", versus ischemia (without damage).

CK?: The "normal range" for creatine kinase, the popular "heart enzyme" on the old panel, was set for sedentary americans. A few times i've tested classes of athletic young people, and almost all the fitness buffs tested high, often at ten times or more the "upper limit of normal". If you've fit and have no symptoms, don't let a number worry you -- life's hard enough!
