Not all do: The evening is the most common time for hot flashes, but they can occur anytime. There is speculation that there are cyclical rhythms to hormone secretions or some women are just more aware of them when their activity is less.

Can come anytime: Many, but not all women have hot flashes during the day also. It isn't known why they come but recent research suggests that emotional stress may bring them on and while you are sleeping your unconscious is trying to deal with the stress in your life (according to some experts.).
