Very: Understand what detachment is - family needs to maintain healthy boundaries, support with healthy consequences and need to step back and let the addict understand how to deal with ups and downs.

Huge!: The addict needs a support system that knows him/her and will give him/her tough love. The addict is going to want to slide back and having a supportive family that holds him/her to their recovery is critical. Good luck!
