A member asked:

Is it possible to be addicted to food and eating?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Sort of.: Sometimes, unhealthy eating is driven by abnormal brain responses to certain foods that result in pleasure and create cravings to experience that again. (the same process that creates addiction to alcohol, heroin, gambling, etc.) strictly avoiding sweets or other calorie dense foods for even a few days can lessen these cravings to a manageable level. Exercise can do the same.
