Need more Info: If your child has an underlying neurodevelopmental/genetic disorder or primary mental illness as the root of the behavior problems, he needs evaluations by a developmental/behavioral pediatrician, a pediatric neuropsychologist, and a child psychiatrist. Please don't assume that you are a "bad" parent or that he is a "bad" kid. Ask your pediatrician for these referrals asap.

It Depends: The answer is that it truly depends upon the problem. Some problems are part of the normal developmental progression, such as temper tantrums. Others, such as oppositional defiant disorder are more complex.Perhaps genetic, and require extensive counseling and help. Some may go away, some may be a life long struggle. There are not always easy solutions.

Child behaviors: Child behavior problems don't magically go away. Rather, assessing the nature and severity of the problems, determining the causes and influences, and what maintains the behavior will lead to good results. Of course, it's the parents' responsibility to maintain consistency and strengthen replacement behaviors with rewards, as well. Seek help from a child psychologist, if the problems are severe.
