Pain: Accompanied by possible swelling and bruising. Usually there is a history of injury, however some injuries are occult and patients don't remember the occurrence. If there are any doubts, have it checked out by your friendly local podiatrist.

Many possible: Twisting ones’ ankle can lead to a sprained ankle. Often times, this may result in ligamentous injuries which may lead to ankle swelling, bruising, pain, and possibly instability. An x-ray of the foot and ankle will be able to assist in differentiating a sprain form a fracture. Have it evaluated by a professional and get the appropriate treatment.
